Ductless Air Conditioning For Homes With No Air Ducts

Ductless Air Conditioning For Homes With No Air Ducts

For years now, my stepson has lived without central air conditioning, because the old house he bought used a water heat system, and he had no ductwork. The only way to cool the house while the summer was to install numerous window air conditioners every spring and remove and store them again every fall. Not only was this law a lot of work, but it wasn't very efficient. The house was full of hot spots and cold spots, and every window unit had to be operated independently. Then he heard about ductless air conditioning, and he couldn't wait to have it installed. Now his family lives in a much more comfortable environment while the hot summer months.

If you have a home with a furnace and ductwork, it's a straightforward matter to add an air conditioning unit to it. However, without ductwork, this type of gismo isn't going to work. That's when ductless air conditioning makes a lot of sense. Ductless units consist of two parts. There's a unit mounted on the inside wall of the home to pump cool air in. It's related by refrigerant lines to other unit on the surface wall of the house. The unit operates using a thermostat. Even though the unit will only cool about one room, it's still a first-rate law to a window air conditioner. With the thermostat, you can keep the area a constant climatic characteristic without a loud compressor enduringly kicking on and off. The ductless air conditioning unit uses a quiet blower to deliver its contribute of cool air.

Ductless air conditioning has the advantage of not having to be put into an open window. This is leading for protection reasons as whatever wanting to break into your home could push out your window air conditioner and crawl in the window. You also don't have to move the unit into place in the spring or out to storehouse in the fall, because it can remain in place all year long. Supplementary units can be added to bedrooms or other rooms of the house that you would like to cool. Costwise, it's estimated that putting in a ductless law to cool a 2,000 square foot home would cost from ,000 to ,000, so having ductless air conditioning added to your home could be an costly yet pleasant addition.

Malfunctioning is a very common qoute and we sometimes do not get to know it very easily. One of the most common problems is that the air conditioning compressor might get filled with excess water and dust.

Sometimes, the air conditioner filters are dirty and not cleaned properly which could cause an air conditioning compressor total failure. It is all the time important to have a quarterly clean up of the engine for the allowable running and functioning of the unit.

Sometimes we forget to remember about the failure of air conditioning compressor and also to complain it to the manufacturer, which in turn could cause a difficult mode on the usage of the compressor and sometimes it also damages the whole unit to work properly.

There are also some negative consequences which may be faced by the user, if he does not let the facts about the qoute to the builder on time. Some times the failure of the system or any part of it, may lead to the arresting or improper functioning of producing cool air in the environment.

It is very critical for everybody to get in touch with a good and reputed professional who could does the mend work properly and very efficiently.

The trouble With Black Mold In Air Conditioners - And What To Do About It

The trouble With Black Mold In Air Conditioners - And What To Do About It

Both Ac units and air ducts make great places for mold to hang out.

The trouble With Black Mold In Air Conditioners - And What To Do About It

With Ac units, water leaks out of them and makes a nice place for mold. In these water pools mold grows, and then their spores are passed along straight through the ducts to every part of the house.

Your heating and cooling ideas also can suck air out of dissimilar parts of the house. This means that mold can be passed all over the place, every which way, by your ventilation system.

The Hvac unit that sits exterior your home is exquisite for mold, because there's all the time water colse to it. Mold often grows in the unit's water pools. The evaporator coil is also a major problem spot.

How Can You Tell?

First, there are the quarterly mold symptoms which ordinarily look as if sinus trouble; runny nose, stuffy nose, and sinus headache. If you can smell mold when you turn on or run the Ac, you by all means; of course have a mold qoute there.

To make sure, you can all the time get a home testing kit from your hardware store. This might be a good idea anyway, and it can also tell you if the source of your mold troubles is your Ac unit.

Take the testing gear and check each room. Check colse to all the vents. Also, check colse to the unit itself outside, especially where there is any standing water.

What Can You Do?

If you have mold in your air ducts, it doesn't do much good to clean them. That's not just my opinion; that's what the Epa recommends. If you have mold in your ducts, it's symptomatic of a mold qoute elsewhere in the house, and until you address that, you won't make any develop on the mold.

For the Ac unit, you have to clean it on a quarterly basis to keep them mold free. Of course, you have to thoroughly clean up any mold that you find colse to the unit, or in the dinky pools of water colse to it.

In general, keep the fan mode switch on your Ac on "auto" mode. If you put it on "on," it will recirculate all that moisture that has collected on the evaporator coil straight through your house and air conditioning system. You don't want to raise the humidity level of your house; that will cause mold problems all over.

If you are building a home or buying a new Ac unit, look for one that has options to operate the humidity. Some have variable speeds, or dissimilar modes like "moisture removal." This will help greatly in controlling your house's mold.

Another tip on picking an Ac unit is that bigger machines ordinarily growth humidity. For some reason, population commonly pick oversized Ac units for their homes. This is truly not a wise choice, because a bigger unit will originate more moisture and circulate that moisture straight through your home.

If your heating and cooling ideas is infested with mold, you will probably have to call a pro and have the whole house tested and remediated.

Air Conditioner repair

Air Conditioner repair

Most problems that habitancy face with air conditioners can be solved by simple maintenance and cleaning. A quarterly cleaning of the air conditioner grille and filter helps to increase its longevity and make it more effective at cooling. Sometimes particle aggregation inside the air filter chokes the ducts and makes the air conditioner ineffective. This can be solved by a simple cleaning of the air filter.

The common problems with air conditioners are faulty cooling, variety of water pools below the air conditioner, rattling sounds when the unit is shutting down, dysfunctional temperature control, etc. Some of these problems can be repaired by the owners themselves without calling for technical help. The air conditioner hand-operated carries solutions to minor problems which can be truly implemented.

Before attempting Air Conditioner Repairs, it is most leading to turn the power off. Removing the grille is an easy task, but care should be taken if the fan is attached to the grille as in some central cooling systems. Also, no wires should come loose while removing the grille and disconnecting the fan. If there are any wires connecting the fan to the main board, their sequence should be remembered so that they can be reconnected later.

Sometimes the air conditioner may not turn on at all due to a tripped or a broken fuse. The fuse is simple enough to be substituted by anyone. Instructions to replace fuses are mentioned in the manual. Hence, before calling a technician, it is advisable to check if there is a fuse problem.

Another common question is the accumulation of water under the front quantum of the air conditioner. This may be due to leakage of one of the ducts. simple replacement solves the question and instructions are mentioned in the manual.

Problems with thermostats are trickier to solve. Thermostat problems cause the air conditioner to cool the room unexpectedly. Even the heat pump may cause unexpected temperature swings if it is broken down. Thermostats and heat pumps should only be repaired by skilled technicians from the fellowships themselves.

Air Conditioner repair is not a very difficult task, but habitancy who are not determined with electrical appliances may taste the enterprise to send their technicians. Technicians from the same enterprise should be beloved over other repairmen.

Air Conditioners Changing to R410a Refrigerant

Air Conditioners Changing to R410a Refrigerant

With the world craze to "go green" we are seeing a new system being implemented in the way we use air conditioning.  The existing system which many habitancy refer to as Freon is authentically what is termed R-22. The R-22 refrigerant is being substituted by the R410a refrigerant which is a much more environment amiable and energy conserving system.  This overhaul is slated for 2010 and will replace the R-22 with the R410a thoroughly because they work on two opposite pressure systems.

Air Conditioners Changing to R410a Refrigerant

Air Conditioners Changing to R410a Refrigerant

The copper lines that the R-22 use will need to be changed out because it uses mineral oils that break down into damaging carbons that are speculated to be causing the global warming accident the governments of the world seem to be so worried about. R-410a will use synthetic oil that will be able to reserve at much higher temperatures than that of the old.

The old piping will have mineral oil deposits throughout the piping and this is what the new system is aimed at enhancing and replacing. If the piping is not substituted it will wreak havoc with the new system because it will not be able to take the pressure of the R410a and will establish deposits on the compressor walls and damage the metering device.

The implementation of this new system will need a fresh start because if you were to join the two it will cause the very same problems that the R-22 is said to be causing.  The old system could have moisture retained inside the piping and this does not go well with the functions of the new R-410a.

If you are told by an installer or sales man of the new refrigerant that you can use your existing piping because they are going to blast it out or flush them out make sure you tell them you know more than they do and you want to have the piping thoroughly substituted when they setup the new heating and air system.

Whether you believe in global warming or not is irrelevant because we are going to see a turn in all the carbon systems that are currently operating across the planet. This being the case you might as well do your homework and get a firm insight of what these changes are going to be so you know what you need to do to and how to abide by the inception of new equipment.

Stop Your Air Conditioner Leaking Water

Stop Your Air Conditioner Leaking Water

The three most common reasons for water leakage from heat pumps are dirty filters or heat exchanging coils, blocked drains, and a shortage of refrigerant. They are pretty simple to diagnose and repair.

Remember: Turn off the power source to your air conditioner before trying any of the following!

1. Dirty Filters and or Blocked Heat Exchanger

When the filters, or heat exchanging coil, are dirty or blocked, this causes a restriction in air flow. This in turn can then cause the climatic characteristic of the coil to drop. If the coil climatic characteristic drops below zero, moisture in the air that is condensating on the coil can ice and form slight ice flakes which are then blown out of your air conditioner, causing water leakage.

Check the filters, and if they look dirty, give them a good clean with the hosepipe or shower head. Take off all the dirt and give them a spray with a kitchen or bathroom sanitary spray to kill any bacteria or mould on them.

Check the aluminum coil behind the filters. If it is covered in dry lint, try vacuuming the coil considered with the brush attachment on your vacuum cleaner. If it is particularly dirty, you will need to use a organery spray bottle and a strong grease removing kitchen cleaner. Spray it on the coil, allow to work for nearby 5 minutes then rinse the coil off with the spray bottle. This should Take off the dirt and improve the air flow. Please be meticulous not to spray water near to the electrical panel on the air conditioner.

Always read the manufacturers' manuals on how to clean your heat pump or air conditioner correctly!

2. Blocked Drains

On a wall mounted ductless air conditioner, a blocked drain can be pretty inevitable and easy to diagnose. Water will usually drip down the wall from the back of the unit and may also leak through the air outlet at the front if the drain is blocked.

Stand on a small ladder and look down from the top of the air conditioner. Towards the bottom of the heat exchanger is a slight plastic tray which is designed to catch the condensate produced by the cooling mode of the air conditioner. Check that this tray is not full of water or overflowing.

If your outdoor unit is directly behind the wall the indoor unit is mounted on, your drain pipe will likely result the pipework through the wall and drip into the garden. If this is the case, find the end of the drain pipe outside, wipe the end clean with a cloth then blow as hard as you can into it. This should clear any blockages.

If you cannot clear the blockage yourself, or if it is buried inside the wall, you will need to phone a professional Hvac aid enterprise and book a aid call.

3. Your Air Conditioner Has A Leak and Has Lost Refrigerant

If your air filters and heat exchanger are clean and you have lots of air flow, your air conditioner should deliver abundance of cool air. If it is struggling to cool the room for a few hours and then starts leaking water from the air vent it may be short on refrigerant.

Set your heat pump to the bottom setting possible and leave it to run for a slight while. Then check the heat exchanging coil underneath the filters. If it is covered in ice, your air conditioner has a leak and requires a professional to aid it. If your air conditioner is leaking refrigerant, the leak will need to be found and fixed before it can have further refrigerant added to it.

If in doubt, or these tips don't work, caress your local air conditioning enterprise for a service.

This is available in the form of two major types or models. The first model is designed in such a way so that it can be fitted under the dash board of the car without the need of the discharge of the glove box. This type of model is available in assorted modes, like heat and cool or cool only. This model comprises a high capacity coil and a chrome face. The evaporator fitted in this model is faultless in all regards and is qualified with all the controls. The model also comprises a valve for the control of the heater along with mounting brackets. It also comes with instructions which are easy to follow.

The second unit of the under dash air conditioning which is available has clear characteristic features which double up as advantages. This second unit takes comparatively lesser space vertically under the dashboard. This is made inherent by using thin rectangular louvers. This second unit or model is also available in the cool only and the heat and cool modes.

The evaporator is also faultless and consists of all required controls along with the valve, which is needed for the regulation of the feat (also known as heater control valve). Highly easy to follow instructions are also part of the package along with mounting brackets. The under dash air conditioners comes in collection of dimensions. The most ordinarily used dimensions being 16 inches wide, half an inch deep and high.
